REPORTING ABUSE

The Roman Catholic Church is concerned with the well-being of all people, but has a special concern for those who are most vulnerable and cannot fully care for themselves. It is the policy of the Diocese of Salt Lake City that child abuse, including sexual abuse of minors, is contrary to Christian principles and will not be tolerated.

If you observe or have reason to believe that a child has been subjected to abuse by any employee or volunteer of the Diocese of Salt Lake City, please note the following:

A. If the victim is under the age of 18:

  • Utah law requires you to immediately notify the nearest police officer, law enforcement agency or the Office of the Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS).
    • In Salt Lake and Tooele counties, DCFS can be contacted at (801) 281-5151.
    • For all other counties in Utah, DCFS can be contacted at (800) 678-9399.
  • Please immediately notify the Diocese of Salt Lake City at (801) 328-8641.

B. If the victim is aged 18 years or older, please notify the Diocese of Salt Lake City at (801) 328-8641
