Catechist Formation and Certification

There are two types of certification. 

BASIC Certification:  Basic certification includes thirty hours of coursework within the domains below. Any person who holds a BA/MA in Theology, an MA in Catholic School Leadership and/or is a member of a religious community, qualifies for Basic Certification.

RENEWAL Certification: After receiving a Basic Certification, renew a minimum of 10 hours every year within the domains below.

Types of Certification

Virtual and/or In Person
Faith Formation Days
Description Participants register on the appropriate websites, choose an offered course and set their own schedule. (PLC’s recommended) Utah Catholic Schools and the Diocese of Salt Lake City host Faith Formation days.
